Blackburn Keeps on Rolling
Softball Sweeps Doubleheader Against Principia
The Blackburn College softball team is on fire. They improved their record to an outstanding 11-2 on the year, which is the best overall record in the St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference as of now. The Beavers easily swept both games of a doubleheader against Principia College on Monday night with scores of 11-3 and 10-1.
The Blackburn bats have not gone to sleep all year as they continue to be the best hitting team in the SLIAC by hitting at a clip just below .400. A home run by Ashley Donoho and a grand slam by Brianna Markel upped the team's home run total to a very impressive 23 on the year.
Amber Byrley got the win in game one as she is the staff's ace. Her ERA is around 2.50 on the year. Sophomore Mary Chamberlain notched the victory in game two.
The Beavers look to continue their amazing start to the 2013 season as they travel to St. Louis to take on SLIAC foe Webster University in a doubleheader tomorrow night. Webster comes into play with an overall record of 9-6 and has yet to play a conference game.
