Eugea, Tuetken Named Blackburn Athletics of the Week

CARLINVILLE, IL -- Sophomore men's soccer player Grant Eugea and women's golf senior Caidy Tuetken have been named the Blackburn College Athletes of the Week. 

Eugea helped guide the men's soccer team with three goals as they defeated Concordia University Chicago Wednesday 3-1 and University of Health Sciences and Pharmacy 2-1. The sophomore answered an early CUC goal then added the game winner against the Cougars in Wednesday's match and followed it with a goal and an assist at UHSP. Eugea finished the week with a total of 10 shots, putting five on goal. 

Tuetken led the women's golf team to a dual match win over Eureka College in Friday's fall season opener. While winning with a score of 85, the senior achieved a rare feat with an albatross on the second hole, scoring a two on the Par 5 hole. 

This coming week sees the action start Monday with women's soccer visiting Monmouth College. The women's golf team takes part in the Country Club Classic in Jacksonville, Illinois Monday while the men's team competes in the Cougar Fall Classic Monday and Tuesday in Metamore, Illinois. On Wednesday, men's soccer hosts regional power Illinois Wesleyan University on National Hot Dog Day. 

Thursday sees women's soccer travel to Milwaukee, Wisconsin to take on Mount Mary University. Volleyball heads to Hanover College for the Hanover Invitational and will take on DePauw University and Hanover on Friday, and Albion College and Trine University Saturday. 

On Saturday, both soccer teams host Spurgeon College, with the men's game starting at 1 pm and the women's game starting at 3:30 pm.
