Several teams from Blackburn volunteered to help at the annual Lion's Carnival
CARLINVILLE, IL -- Several teams from Blackburn College Athletics volunteered at the 81st Lions Carnival that took place in Carlinville, Illinois on September 5 and 6.
"This event is seen as Carlinville's annual sort of homecoming, and this year Blackburn again proved it is and always has been an integral part of the Carlinville community," the current Lion's Club President Larry Clark said, "The club is truly appreciative and hugely impressed by the response from Blackburn Athletics to volunteer in putting on the annual Lions Carnival.
From the Blackburn athlete perspective, senior women's basketball player commented, "Working the Lions Carnival was such a fun experience, especially since it was my second and final year doing it. I loved seeing the kids laugh and have fun while playing games, their excitement made it all worth it. I really enjoyed myself and will definitely miss being part of it!"
The women's soccer, women's basketball, softball and men's wrestling teams all volunteered to help run the various games taking place.
"I love working the lions carnival because it gives me another opportunity to community outreach beyond campus," said senior softball player Breana Allen. "I also get to see some of the kids from our kids camp and it always a blessing to see how excited they are to see us again."
The games the BC student athletes helped run included the basketball shooting games, the kids games and the putting games.
