Moeglin, Soto Named Blackburn Athletes of the Week
CARLINVILLE, IL -- Blackburn College Athletics has named senior Payton Moeglin and freshman Nathan Soto the Athletes of the Week.
Moeglin posted 11 kills and two aces on the offensive attack and added 20 digs and a block in the team's five set match at University of Health Sciences and Pharmacy Wednesday night.
Soto played a prominent role in Friday's win over St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference foe Mississippi University for Women. He scored the team's first goal in the 19th minute when sophomore Cade Harper took a ball along the left sideline and booted in to the goal that resulted in the MUW goalkeeper deflecting it right to Soto who put it right into the net for his fourth goal of the season. He added an assist in the 41st minute with pass that found senior Henry Ibarguen-Londono in the middle of the box. He then added his second goal in the second half, scoring in the 59th minute off a pass from sophomore Grant Eugea.
Women's golf begins the week by competing in the William Woods Fall Invitational Monday and Tuesday.
Tuesday also sees a busy day on campus as both the men's and women's soccer teams host SLIAC rival Principia College for their final matches this season. That night, volleyball hosts NAIA foe St. Mary of the Woods College.
On Saturday, men's and women's cross country heads to the SLIAC Cross Country Championships while volleyball travels to Greenville College to take on Greenville and Lyon College for SLIAC contests.
