Bennett, Branstner Earn Prairie Farms Athlete of the Week

CARLINVILLE, IL — Freshmen Maya Bennett and Leland Branstner earned Prairie Farms Athlete of the Week honors.

Freshman Maya Bennett delivered an outstanding sprinting performance, competing in both the 60-meter and 200-meter events at the Illinois College Snow Bird Meet. Bennett capped off her day by setting a new school record in the 60-meter dash, continuing to raise the standard for the program with her speed and consistency.

Freshman Leland Branstner led the way for the SLIAC in the shot put, finishing as the conference's top performer at the Illinois College Snow Bird Meet. Branstner broke his own school record originally set in December, advanced to the finals, and secured an eighth-place finish out of a competitive field of 21 athletes.

The men's and women's track & field teams will be on the road Friday and Saturday, traveling to Elsah, Illinois, to compete at the Principia Relays. The men's and women's basketball teams will be at home this Wednesday and Saturday for additional conference play.
