Kruep, Congi earned Blackburn Athlete of the Week

CARLINVILLE, IL — Senior Kailynn Kruep and freshman Joey Congi earned Blackburn Athlete of the Week honors.

Senior Kailynn Kruep earned Player of the Week honors after a strong showing at the plate, batting .321 while starting all eight games. Kruep recorded nine hits in 28 at-bats, scored seven runs, and drove in four RBIs to help lead the Beavers' offense. She also added a stolen base and consistently put pressure on opposing defenses throughout the week in Florida.

Freshman Joey Congi had a standout week at the plate, hitting .500 while appearing in five games and starting four. Congi tallied five hits in 10 at-bats, including a double and two home runs, while driving in four runs and scoring six times. He also showed great discipline at the plate with five walks and added two stolen bases, playing a key role in the Beavers' offensive production throughout the week in Florida.

Softball is on the road to face Wheaton College and the University of Dubuque this Saturday and Sunday. Baseball returns home to take on Maranatha Baptist at 2:00 p.m.
