Baseball Splits with St. Norbert
CARLINVILLE, IL – Blackburn College Baseball picked up a split with St. Norbert University Saturday as they bounced back from a 4-3 defeat in the opener to win the second game 12-2.

CARLINVILLE, IL – Blackburn College Baseball picked up a split with St. Norbert University Saturday as they bounced back from a 4-3 defeat in the opener to win the second game 12-2.
The Beavers were led by Landon Harbach and Joey Congi both finished the day with three hits. Royce Congi hit two doubles and posted a team-best five runs batted in. Joshua Moreno add three RBI's on two hits. Landon Harbach added two RBI's.
Hunter Sarver collected the complete game victory in the nightcap, throwing out eight batters. R. Congi threw six innings and notched six strikeouts.
The Golden Knights took a 1-0 lead in the third inning with a home run but BC answered in the fourth when Andrew Medina scored on a ball hit by Jeremy Mazariego. However, the guests hit another home in their fifth and added another run in the seventh to go ahead 3-1.
In the seventh, Harley Carney hit a sacrifice fly to score Gavin Griffith, then Medina singled in the eighth inning which scored J. Congi and made it 3-3. Unfortunately, SNU managed to hit third home run in the top of the ninth which allowed the guests to win the opener 4-3.
The Beavers scored the first 12 runs of the day's second game before the Golden Knights scored in the top of the seventh.
Dominic Medrano opened things up in the second inning with a double that scored Diego Perez. Johnny Duran scored later in the inning off a single from Harbach before R. Congi hit a three-run double. R. Congi closed out the inning's scoring by scoring off a Moreno double to put Blackburn ahead 6-0.
BC added five more runs in the third. Duran scored off another Harbach single before R. Congi doubled again to put Harbach and Medrano across the plate, making it 9-0. Carney added a run off a Moreno batted ball. J. Congi followed with a double to score R. Congi and pushed the Blackburn lead to 11-0 at the end of the inning.
In the fifth inning, Moreno knocked in Harbach and made it 12-0. The Golden Knights managed to score two runs in the top of the seventh but Blackburn did not allow anymore runs and captured the 12-2 victory.
With the win, BC moves to 3-1 on the season. They return to action Sunday for a single-game matchup against the Golden Knights.
