SAUGET, IL -- Blackburn College Baseball visited Webster University in a return to St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference play but were unable to come home with victory as they fell 13-2 and 10-0.
Senior Harley Carney and freshman Landon Harbach led the offense with Harbach getting a double and a run batted in. Junior Diego Perez also had a double.
In the opener, the Beavers faced a 5-0 deficit heading into the third inning. Freshman Austin Wood started the inning by getting hit by a pitch. Freshman Joey Congi then walked before he and Wood moved up on a wild pitch. Andrew Medina followed with a walk to load the bases.
Harbach came up next and hit into a fielder's choice that allowed Wood to score. Congi also scored on the play due to a Gorlok error to put BC within 5-2. However, the hosts responded with more offense to eventually win 13-2.
The nightcap saw Webster take a 3-0 lead early on their way to the 10-0 victory.
Blackburn will return to action Friday by taking on Principia College in a single game then host the Panthers in a doubleheader Saturday. The team will also honor their seniors Saturday.
