Second Half Rally Falls Short
CARLINVILLE, IL– The Blackburn College Men’s Basketball team took on St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference opponent Webster University on Wednesday night. The Beavers outscored the Gorloks 48-31 in the second half but were unable to overcome a slow first half, taking a heartbreaking loss, 75-71.

The Beavers outscored the Gorloks 48-31 in the second half but were unable to overcome a slow first half, taking a heartbreaking loss, 75-71.
Senior Brody Barr led the Beavers with 23 points and 7 rebounds. Brody Barr shot 100% from the charity strip and shot 50% from three. Darius Duff and Odis Grissom both scored 11 on the night, rounded out by Nick Cook with 10.
The Beavers started slow and faced a 44-23 first half deficit. In the second half the Beavers came out firing. Blackburn started the second half and soon narrowed the deficit to 52-45 just over six minutes into the half.
Webster rebounded to pull ahead by 12, but BC rallied and took a 60-59 lead with six minutes to go. The teams traded baskets and the Beavers managed to pull ahead 69-67 at the two minute mark. A Gorlok layup tied the game, but Cook sank two free throws with 46 seconds on the clock to take the 71-69 lead. However, Webster was able make two layups to take a lead.
Barr took a three for a chance to take the lead at the end but unfortunately it rimmed out and as the clock would expired. Webster would be rewarded free throws after a lose ball foul and seal the game 75-71.
Blackburn continues conference action on Saturday at home as they take on Principia College.
