Blackburn Falls to Knox
CARLINVILLE, IL -- Blackburn College Men's Basketball saw three in double figures but fell to Knox College Tuesday night 82-67.
Freshman Evan Jordan led the way with 13 points, six rebounds, five assists and three steals. Junior Bradyn Pieper added 12 points and freshman Jaylen Jeter had 11.
Blackburn jumped out to an early 8-3 lead three minutes into the game before Knox rallied to go ahead 11-8 before the first media timeout. After a basket by BC and the media timeout, the Beavers bounced back to pull ahead 27-20 after a Jordan three at the 9:03 mark. However, over the next several minutes, the Prairie Fire answered with a run to take back the lead, 30-27 with four minutes left in the first half.
The teams traded baskets the rest of the half, and a Pieper three with five seconds remaining sent the teams into halftime tied 35-35.
Knox opened the second half on a 9-0 run to get ahead 44-35, and eventually took a 51-40 lead. A Blackburn rally capped off by free throws from junior Kcion Welch and senior Darius Duff narrowed it to 54-51 with nine minutes left but it would be the closest the Beavers would get as Knox closed out the game on a 28-16 run and captured the 82-67 victory.
Blackburn returns to action with their third-straight home game to open the season Friday evening with a matchup against Loras University.
