WEBSTER GROVES, MO– The Blackburn College Men's Basketball team took the Gorlocks of Webster University on Wednesday in St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference play. The Beavers fall 95-55.
Freshman Jaylen Jeter led the way with 15 points, 3 steals and rebounds. Senior Cameron Johnson and Freshman Evan Jordan nailed off 9 points each with Evan leading the boards with 5 rebounds.
Blackburn opened the night with solid energy on the offensive end, answering Webster's early three with a strong finish from Junior Kamerin Carter and later a transition layup by Jeter. The Beavers showed flashes of sharp execution—Jeter jumped a passing lane for a steal and score, Jordan knocked in a paint jumper, and Junior Payton Cook added tough interior buckets. During the opening stretch, Blackburn repeatedly found life in transition and off defensive stops, with Jordan and Jeter generating early momentum through steals and runouts. However, Webster applied pressure and closed the first half capitalizing.
Coming out of halftime, the Beavers continued to compete. Jeter and Freshman Ryan Lash each crashed the offensive glass for extra possessions, and Junior Kcion Welch knocked down another free throw to get the scoring started. Jeter added another strong drive to the rim, and Lash later connected again from deep—one of several confident second-half perimeter looks. Johnson provided instant offense off the bench, hitting a smooth jumper and later two timely threes that gave the Beavers a needed scoring spark. Meanwhile, Jordan continued to generate turnovers and fast-break points, pushing the tempo whenever the Beavers forced stops. Blackburn's best second-half rhythm came during a stretch where Jeter, Jordan, Johnson, and Lash all scored in a series of paint attacks and threes, showing the team's depth and confidence even as Webster continued to hit shots from all levels. Defensively, the Beavers had strong individual moments—Cook delivered a clean block, Welch grabbed key rebounds, and Jordan produced multiple steals as the team worked to slow Webster's transition push.
Late in the game, Johnson stayed hot from beyond the arc, ripping another three in the closing minutes, and Freshmen Cooper Carter, Blake Horn, and Junior Cody Marcinko all created extra possessions on the offensive glass as the Beavers continued to battle through the final buzzer. Even with the score line tilted by Webster's shooting runs and fast-break volume, Blackburn maintained effort, physicality in the paint, and a steady stream of contributors across both halves. The Beavers could not keep pace and fell 95-55.
The Beavers are road warriors as they travel to Elsah, Illinois to face Principia in another conference match up on Saturday.
