Freshman Evan Jordan led the charge for the Beavers with 17 points, while junior Kamerin Carter and freshman Jaylen Jeter followed with 11 points each. Junior Payton Cook led the team on the boards with nine rebounds.
Blackburn opened the game with strong defensive energy and early execution, as Jordan scored the Beavers' first basket just seconds into the contest. Blackburn forced multiple early turnovers and controlled the glass, with juniors Owen Walter and Kcion Welch creating second-chance opportunities. Carter and Jordan helped Blackburn maintain a narrow lead through the opening minutes before MUW responded with a brief run to even the score.
The Beavers found momentum midway through the first half behind perimeter shooting and ball movement. Welch knocked down a key three-pointer, and Jeter provided an immediate spark off the bench with a three of his own to push Blackburn ahead. Despite solid defensive pressure and timely stops, MUW closed the half strong, using offensive rebounds and late buckets to take a 37–32 lead into the break.
Blackburn came out of halftime with renewed intensity. Jordan scored five quick points early in the second half, including a three-pointer, to pull the Beavers within striking distance. After forcing consecutive turnovers, Blackburn tied the game at 39–39 and continued to battle possession by possession. Jordan's aggressiveness at the rim and Welch's finishing kept Blackburn close as the game tightened.
Midway through the second half, Blackburn surged in front behind defensive stops and transition offense. Carter buried a crucial three-pointer at the 10:45 mark to give the Beavers a 50–48 lead, their first advantage since early in the half. Cook anchored the defense with rebounds and blocks, while Blackburn continued to generate steals and disrupt MUW's rhythm.
The final minutes featured a back-and-forth battle. MUW briefly regained the lead, but Blackburn answered every run. With under two minutes remaining, Carter knocked down another clutch three-pointer to cut the deficit to two. Moments later, Jeter came up with a steal and finished at the rim to tie the game at 57–57.
In the closing seconds, Blackburn executed when it mattered most. Carter hit a tough jumper with 17 seconds remaining to give the Beavers a 59–57 advantage. Blackburn's defense held firm on the final possession, forcing a missed free throw in the closing second to secure the hard-fought 59–58 victory.
