CARLINVILLE, IL -- Blackburn College Men's Soccer hosted St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference rival Eureka College on a rainy Saturday afternoon where they honored three seniors but a second half goal from the Red Devils proved too much to overcome as the Beavers fell 1-0.
Prior to the game, seniors Tyler Marconi, Henry Ibarguen-Londono and Landan Tribble were celebrated for their years of contribution to the team.
In the match, BC held an 11-10 advantage in shots and saw an 11-3 difference in corner kicks. Sophomores Brayden Smith and Cristian Cazares, and freshman Adrian Castillo and Nathan Soto all had two shots each to lead the offensive attack.
The game started but was delayed due to lightning less than 10 minutes into the match. After the delay that lasted over an hour, the teams played through rain for a scoreless first half.
As the rain continued throughout the second half, Eureka managed to score a goal in the 59th minute which resulted in the lone score of the game to give the guest the 1-0 victory.
The team returns to action Tuesday night to take on Webster University in more SLIAC action.
