Track & Field Competes at Greenville Select Meet

The Beavers competed across sprints, distance, hurdles, jumps, throws, and relays, showing continued progress as the outdoor season moves forward.
Distance Crew Leads the Way
The distance group turned in a strong day, highlighted by Sam Burrows, who broke his own school record in the 1500 meters with a time of 4:23.30.
Christian Miller also had a breakthrough race, dipping under five minutes for the first time in the 1500 meters, while Samuel Schoeneweis continued to gain experience in the event.
In the 800 meters, Kendrik Troutt lowered the school record to 2:06.44, and Collyn Oberkfell added a solid effort with a time of 2:08.46.
Sprints and Hurdles Continue to Progress
The sprints group showed improvement across the board. Tristan Toss led the way with a school record performance of 11.35 in the 100 meters and added a 5.99m mark in the long jump.
Landan Tribble recorded a personal best in the 400 meters with a time of 55.72, while Byron McNeil contributed in the 200 meters.
On the women's side, Maya Bennett competed in both the 100m and 200m while also contributing in the long jump.
In the hurdles, Tyler Tarallo set a new school record in the 110-meter hurdles with a time of 18.61, continuing his development in the event.
Jumps and Multi-Event Contributions
Blackburn saw contributions across the jumps group, with athletes competing in both horizontal and vertical events throughout the day. Sophia Palmier balanced a busy schedule that included the 800 meters, high jump, and pole vault.
Throws Group Builds Momentum
The throws group continued its upward trajectory. Leland Branstner improved his school record in the hammer throw with a mark of 42.22m, while also competing in the shot put and discus.
In the javelin, Tyler Tarallo broke the school record with a throw of 25.70 meters, surpassing the previous mark set just last week.
On the women's side, Bree Hammon had a standout day, breaking the school record in the discus (28.05m) and setting the program's first mark in the hammer throw (20.28m). She was joined by Caitlin Rainey in the throws, while Olivia Hamman competed in the javelin.
Women's 4x400 Relay Highlights Team Effort
The meet concluded with a strong showing from the women's 4x400 relay team of Maya Bennett, Isabella Bradley, Sophia Palmier, and Mary Ahrens, who ran 5:12.09 to set a new school record.
Earlier in the day, Isabella Bradley also broke her own school record in the 400 meters with a time of 1:09.95, highlighting a strong individual performance.
Blackburn's performance at Greenville showcased both individual progress and team depth, with athletes contributing in every event area.
The Beavers will return to Greenville on April 24–25 for the SLIAC Outdoor Championships, where they will look to build on this momentum against conference competition.
