Shelby Koenig Named SLIAC Pitcher of the Week

BELLEVILLE, IL -- Senior Shelby Koenig was named the St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Pitcher of the Week after her Perfect Game showing last week.  

In the team's first game of the week last week, an 8-0 victory over Maranatha Baptist University, Koenig struck out all 15 batters she faced for the shutout victory. The perfect game marks the second time in league history someone threw a perfect game, and first time in recorded Blackburn Softball history. 

She would add two hits and two runs in the second game while starting the game in left field. 

For the season, Koenig stands at 4-2 overall and has thrown 48 strikeouts, averaging eight per game. 

The Beavers return to action Tuesday to host Knox College and open SLIAC play Saturday at Westminster College.
