Softball Starts Conference Season

LOUISVILLE, KY -- Blackburn College Softball opened St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference play with a visit to Spalding University but were unable to come home with victory as they fell 6-0 and 4-1 in the conference doubleheader.
Sophomore Mailee Schoen led the team's offense and had a double and run batted in to highlight her day. Junior Kenadee Frey scored the team's run.
Frey scored the team's run in the fourth inning of the second game. After being walked she advanced to second on a groundout. Schoen followed with a double which scored Frey to make the score 2-1. However, the Golden Eagles would answer with two more runs to win 4-1.
In the opener, Spalding scored a run in the first and second innings before putting two across home plate in the third and fourth innings.
The Beavers will return to their home field Wednesday for their home conference opener with Westminster College.
