The Blackburn College Women`s Basketball team matched up in a non-conference match against Central Iowa on Saturday, Novemeber 14th at 5pm. This is the second game for the Beavers.
Central Iowa came ready to play as they tested the Beaver defense early. The Beavers found themsevles down at the end of the first quarter 21-9. Both teams also fell into foul trouble early in the beginning of the second quarter which lead to free-throws. In the second half, Central Iowa added another 22 points to their total while the Beavers added another 9, making the score 43 to 18 heading into halftime.
The Blackburn Beavers came out fighting to start the third quarter. They outscored Central Iowa 17 to 14 for the quarter. Beavers started to figure out how to pick apart the Iowa press and connected passes to put the ball in the hoop.
Iowa Central held their own as they finished the fourth quarter by adding another ten points to their total to take the win over the Beavers 67-39.
Central Iowa came up with 43 rebounds for the game while the Beavers came up with 41. The Beavers also came up with eight steals. The Beavers fall to (0-2) for the season.
The Women`s Basketball team will search for their first win when they travel to Chicago to play in a non-conference match up against Concordia College on November, 21st. Game is estimated to start at 2pm.
