Late Rally Falls Short
CARLINVILLE, IL -- The Blackburn Women's Basketball team made a fourth quarter comeback against MUW but it wouldn't be enough.
CARLINVILLE, IL – The Blackburn College Women's Basketball team faced Mississippi University for Women in St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference action on Thursday, February 13th, at Dawes Gymnasium. Despite a strong fourth-quarter push, the Beavers fell 70-60.
The game was tightly contested in the first quarter, with both teams tied at 15 apiece. However, MUW took control in the second and third quarters, outscoring Blackburn 20-9 and 22-11, respectively. The Beavers mounted a late comeback, scoring 25 points in the final period, but it wasn't enough to close the gap.
Kenadee Frey led the Beavers with an impressive 20-point performance, including five three-pointers and six assists. Zoe Mitchell recorded a double-double with 8 points and 11 rebounds, while Caidy Tuetken contributed 11 points, 11 rebounds, and 3 assists. India Harris added 8 points and 7 rebounds, showing versatility on both ends of the floor.
Blackburn shot 37.7% from the field and 42.1% from beyond the arc.
The Beavers will look to regroup and secure their first conference win in their next SLIAC matchup as they host Lyon College on Saturday.
