Beavers Take Scots to Overtime
CARLINVILLE, IL—The Blackburn College Women’s Basketball team took on Monmouth College Wednesday night in a non-conference conference matchup. The Beavers fought hard, especially in the last quarter, hitting a tying layup in the game’s final seconds to send it to overtime but fell short 82-70.

Junior Eizaenirys Quinones and Junior Kenadee Frey both tied for the lead in points, they each had 18 points each. Junior Cheresse Mitchell led the team in rebounds with eight and also tied with E. Quinones in steals in which they each had three. Senior Gabriela Solis had the second most rebounds with seven and chipped in with 15 points. G.Solis and C.Mitchell both led the team in assists,each having three assists.
In the first half, the Beavers came out scoring first with a two pointer and were trading basket for basket against the Scots and ending the 1st quarter taking the lead 20-19. In the 2nd quarter, the Beavers came out battling trading shot for shot but fell short towards the end of the first half but fell short exiting the first half 36-26
In the Second half, both teams made runs, with Beavers continuing to the deficit within eleven points ending the 3rd quarter 56-45. The Beavers went back and forth and came back and forced the game into overtime in the 4th quarter 68-68.
In overtime, The Scots would score 11 straight points and unfortunately, the Beavers were not able to recover losing 82-70.
The Beavers will look to regroup and bounce back in their next non-conference matchup, which is on Saturday, November 22nd, when they take on Beloit College away.
