WEBSTER GROVES, MO– The Blackburn College Women's Basketball team was in Missouri to take on Webster University on Wednesday in St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference action. The Beavers fall 101-47.
The Beavers were lead by Juniors Kailynn Kruep, Kenadee Frey, and Eiz Allende Quinones. Kreup had 15 points, 4 steals, and 3 rebounds. Frey had 12 points, 6 rebounds, and 1 assist. Allende Quinones had 9 points, 2 steals, 2 rebounds, and 2 assists.
The Blackburn Beavers opened the night with real energy, striking first as Frey powered in the game's opening basket and immediately asserted herself on the glass. Senior Zoe Mitchell and Allende Quiñones added early rebounds and drives that kept the Beavers aggressive out of the gate. A stretch of giveaways allowed the Gorlocks to pull away in the first half. The Beavers continued to find bright spots. Mitchell finished through traffic, Kruep gave the team a lift with a strong drive and later a series of free throws, and Allende Quinones consistently attacked off the dribble to draw contact. Frey remained a tone-setter, grabbing rebounds, scoring in transition, and later drilling a big three that highlighted Blackburn's most confident offensive stretch. As the game settled, Blackburns' ball movement improved, generating better looks from deep and creating driving lanes, especially during a productive third-quarter run.
Blackburn's offense came alive in the middle stages through threes from Frey and Kruep, downhill attacks from Allende Quiñones, and interior finishes by Mitchell. Kruep's consistency at the line and her willingness to shoot from deep gave the Beavers much-needed rhythm, while Frey continued to get to the stripe and score through contact. The Beavers also tightened their defense with several strong moments—Freshman Vickie McGee recorded a highlight block, Frey and Mitchell pulled down key rebounds, and the bench contributed steals and transition opportunities. Late in the game, Senior Becca Benoit muscled in a layup, McGee added a tough finish of her own, and the Beavers pushed through fatigue with active defensive hands and continuous drives to the rim. The night ended with a fitting final highlight: Kruep burying a deep three with five seconds left, a reminder of the Beavers' resilience and determination to fight through the final horn, falling 101-47.
The Beavers are on the road to Elsah, Illinois to take on Principia in another St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference action on Saturday afternoon.
