On September 26th, the Blackburn Women's volleyball team took on the Fontbonne University Griffins in a conference matchup. With the Beavers coming off of back to back losses, the Beavers looked to bounce back with a win heading into Homecoming weekend. The Beavers however, could not seem to get it together as Blackburn was topped by Fontonne 3-1 in match play.
Blackburn lost the first set by a score of 25-20. While matching the Griffins in kills the first set, the Beavers couldn't seem to disrupt the rhythm of the Griffins. In the second set, the Beavers seem to find all of the momentum as they toppled the Griffins 25-14. That victory however was short-lived as the Griffins rallied in the third set and won 25-21 to take a 2-1 lead in the match. In the fourth set, the Griffins came out on top winning the set 25-16 and winning the match 3-1.
Scoring leaders for the Beavers were Kaitlyn Wiegand and Kendall Knop who both hit double figures in kill with ten. Kendall Burleysen tallied 28 total assists for the Beavers while Alanni Young had a team high of ten digs.
The Beavers next game is on Saturday September 29th, at 11 am against Iowa Wesleyan, and at 3 pm against Lincoln Christian.
