Blackburn Collects to Victories in Home Tri-Match
CARLINVILLE, IL -- The Blackburn College Volleyball team opened their home schedule Monday with a tri-match against Spurgeon College and Beloit College and came away with two victories.

CARLINVILLE, IL -- The Blackburn College Volleyball team opened their home schedule Monday with a tri-match against Spurgeon College and Beloit College and came away with two victories.
The Beavers defeated Spurgeon 3-1, winning 25-16, 20-25, 25-9 and 25-14. They then followed with their second sweep this season by defeating the Buccaneers 25-16, 25-12, 25-14.
Leading the team was senior Zoe Mitchell with 14 kills across the two matches. Freshman Rean Ward added 11 and senior Payton Moeglin chipped in with 10.
Junior Kenadee Frey notched 37 assists and sophomore Naomi Lansaw had 16. Mitchell and Frey also paced the squad with four aces. Lansaw joined freshman Makenah Dugan and Elexus Frey with three aces each.
Defensively, Dugan tallied a team-best 23 digs. E. Frey finished with 21 while K. Frey had 19 and Moeglin had 18. Freshman Rean Ward posted four blocks with junior Becca Benoit contributing three.
With the two wins, Blackburn is now 3-1 to start the season. The team returns to action Saturday when they head to Concordia University Chicago for nonconference action.
