CARLINVILLE, IL -- Blackburn College Volleyball hosted Westminster College in the team's first home St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference home match this season but were unable to come away with a win on Homecoming Weekend.
The Beavers took the first set 28-26 after overcoming a a 23-19 deficit to go up 1-0, but the Blue Jays responded to win the next three sets to win 3-1.
Pacing the Blackburn offense was sophomore Rean Ward with 10 kills. Senior Payton Moeglin and freshman Rylea Black added nine.
Junior Kenadee Frey chipped in with 28 assists and four aces. Freshman Marissa Perez also had four aces.
On defense, freshman Elexus Frey tallied a team-best 20 digs, while K. Frey notched 12 and Moeglin had nine. At the net, Black finished with three block assists.
Blackburn will return to action Tuesday with a nonconference matchup at Knox College.
