Elexus Frey Named SLIAC Volleyball Defensive Player of the Week
Elexus Frey was named SLIAC Volleyball Defensive Player of the Week after posting a total of 54 digs across three matches
BELLEVILLE, IL - Freshman Elexus Frey was named the St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Volleyball Defensive Player of the Week after helping guide Blackburn College to a 3-0 week. Frey's award marks the second time this season volleyball has won defensive player of the week while the third time that a Blackburn athlete has won SLIAC Player of the week honors.
Against Knox College on Wednesday, the libero tallied 12 digs along with four assists in a 3-0 sweep. In Saturday's win over Spalding University she notched 27 digs with three assists and an ace in the 3-2 win over the Golden Ages. She followed it with 15 more digs and four aces in the team's sweep over Eureka College.
Her 27 digs against Spalding marks a new career high and marks the third time this year she has achieved atleast 20 digs in a match.
She posted a total of 54 digs, five aces and two kills for the week.
The volleyball team is now 8-9 on the season and 3-2 in SLIAC play. The Beavers return to action Wednesday when they travel to Westminster College for a SLIAC rematch against the Blue Jays.
