ST. LOUIS, MO -- Blackburn College Volleyball took on University of Health Sciences and Pharmacy Wednesday night in a nonconference matchup. The Beavers came back from a 2-0 deficit to force a fifth set but the comeback effort fell short as they dropped the match 3-2.
Freshman Rylea Black led the offensive attack with 12 kills. Senior Payton Moeglin added 11 while seniors Zoe Mitchell and Ella Person both tallied nine.
Junior Kenadee Frey posted 44 assists.
Defensively, freshman Elexus Frey finished the match with 32 digs. K. Frey added 24 with Moeglin getting 20 and freshman Marissa Perez getting 19. Mitchell and K. Frey notched five block assists as well.
After dropping the first two sets, Blackburn bounced back to take the third set 25-18 and captured the fourth set 25-19. However, their comeback efforts fell short in the fifth set with UHSP winning 15-10.
Blackburn returns to action Tuesday for another nonconference matchup as they host St. Mary of the Woods College.
