Kenadee Frey named SLIAC Defensive Player of the Week
BELLEVILLE, IL -- Junior Kenadee Frey was named this week's St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Defensive Player of the Week.
Frey helped guide the team to a 3-2 victory over Lyon College in Saturday's tri-match at Greenville, and led the team with 50 digs throughout the week.
The team hosted NAIA foe St. Mary of the Woods Tuesday where Frey tallied 12 digs.
She followed it with 28 digs and two blocks against Lyon to help guide the team to the conference victory to secure the team's sixth-straight SLIAC Tournament appearance. She posted 10 more digs and a block in the team's match against conference leader Greenville.
The setter also played a key role in the offensive attack as she tallied 74 assists and five aces, including 42 aces against the Scots.
Blackburn returns to action Saturday when they take on Lyon College and Eureka College at Lyon in the final SLIAC tri-match of the season. Two wins will give the team the #3 seed in the conference playoff, giving the team their first home postseason match since the conference tournament was resumed in 2004. A split or two losses will create numerous tie-breaker scenarios.
