On Wednesday February 17th, the Blackburn Women's Basketball team dropped their final home game against the Eureka College Red Devils by a final score of 73-64. The Beavers started the game on fire and jumped out to a quick 7-2 lead. After a huge three pointer by Emily Camden of Eureka, the Red Devils took off and went on a 10-0 run. The Beavers then fought back to bring the game to a point at the end of the first quarter. The Red Devils started the second quarter by hitting some big buckets and forcing Beaver turnovers. At the end of the second quarter the score was 35-23. The third quarter was an action packed quarter with tons of offense as both teams scored over 20 points in the third quarter. At the end of the third quarter the score was 57-43 in favor of Eureka. The Beavers battled back and the closest they ever came was four points as the Eureka Red Devils hit clutch free throws in the final minute to put the game away. The Red Devils beat the Beavers by a final score of 73-64.
Leading the way for the Beavers was Danique Smith as she tallied 21 points for the Beavers. Also, scoring in double figures for the Beavers was senior Danae Smith who played her final home game with everything she had and scored 19 points while grabbing five boards. Leading the Beavers in rebounding was Aleisha Stiltner was had seven rebounds. Dishing out the most assists for the Beavers was Aleisha Stiltner and Halle Engel who both had three assists. The Beavers shot 42.9% from the field, 16.7% from three point land, and 75.0% from the charity stripe.
Leading the way for the Red Devils was Emily Camden who tallied 18 points. Also scoring in double figures for the Red Devils was Michaela Balducci who had 13 points and Lexi Dooley who had 11 points. Leading the Red Devils in rebounds was Michaela Balducci who had 11 rebounds. Leading the Red Devils in assists was Kerrigan Dura who dished out seven assists. The Red Devils shot 38.8% from the field, 26.5% from three point range, and 48.0% from the free throw line.
The Beavers will look to end their season with a win as they travel to Kentucky, on Saturday February 20th to take on the Spalding University Golden Eagles with the tip off set for 1 pm.
